Fougères - 8 November 2022
Is this Frankia our new motorhome?

Quick blog today! Walked up to the boulangerie before we left Bain-de-Bretagne.

Tintin driving today. 20 minutes up to YpoCamp to look at motorhomes. We started off in a Carthago Chic E line - only €187k! Did look good inside - bit too long for us! It rapidly went downhill thereafter! Ended up looking at quite a few vans - we just don’t think we could live in such a small space. Would be fine to whizz off for a weekend and have your own facilities - but not for a couple of months at a time… plus it’s back to that problem of having your e-bikes outside and potential risks…

Had a look at Bonjour Caravanning next door too. Again - think the Frankia is a bit big for our needs!

Both YpoCamp and Remy Frères used to sell Mobilvetta - but no longer do. Would be good to see the newer models for a comparison.

We did sort of like some of the Rapidos - but most seem at least 2.35m wide - no wonder they feel more spacious inside.

Anyway - Dave is safe. We both fundamentally like the layout inside, haven’t seen better looking lockers! Has some brilliant features - the huge bin by the sink and hob is great when you’re cooking to just sweep stuff into. The shower is high enough and big in comparison with some others. We do like an ‘A’ class - all that glass to see out of! Most beds today were the island bed or French bed, and again, our preference is two full width singles with loads of space underneath, space in the middle for your cup of tea, and the bed head which raises up - great for reading.

Well, those two hours passed quickly! Had lunch in the carpark whilst deciding where to go next. Lovely patch work tarmac on the road out of there!

Tintin definitely feels the need for a pizza. It’s either been Sunday or Monday closing where we’ve been.

He drove for another hour to Maen Roch. Lovely set up for mohos, looks like a camping area - free. However, walked into town - the pizza place is just a take away! Not what he wanted! And the other one was closed on Tuesday’s!

Came back to Dave - ate the delicious chocolate eclairs - Tintin thought they had too much filling - how silly!

Anyway, with taste buds still salivating, decided to drive another 20 minutes to Fougères. The first carpark just didn’t feel right, so moved to another one - further to walk tonight - but there are other motorhomes, and feels safe.

We’ve actually parked here before - on 10 November 2018 - and had a thorough look around and went into the churches and castle. Can use the search button on our blog if you want to read about the place!

I’m really hoping we find a good place to eat tonight!
