Cahore (in a field) - 3 June 2023

3 June 2023 - Cahore - field!

So, by about 18.00, Tintin received an email from RWG - and we were back online! We don’t really understand the problem - the company seem to have a reputation for their riddle email responses! They have assured us that we will have data until we’re home. Mumbling something about the SIM card no longer being valid, but they’re overriding that issue… we will see.

The Strand Cahore was packed last night, with our table booking for 19.30 being the last of the evening. We knew we had a little table in the corner by the bar, but had thought that better than not going.

Tintin enjoyed his cold Guinness. I tried a local, Kerry made Cronins cider - whilst ok, won’t have again - not as good as Orchard Thieves!

Both had pizza, mine organic chicken with homemade pesto, Tintin Serrano ham and pineapple.

We were asked if we’d like to move to a table by the window, which we did. However, sun was right in my eyes and way too hot. Eventually a waitress asked if we’d like the blind pulled down - how I missed even seeing it, I don’t know.

The actual pizzas were ok, nothing special for the price - in fact the ones we had in Belfast at the food festival were much tastier. €43.

Sleep evaded me for a while last night - probably too stuffed with cider and pizza! It sounded like we were in a storm with the sea raging outside nearby.

This morning it was sunny, and not so windy; so decided to move to the field we’d seen yesterday which was about 3 minutes drive away!

Went for a lovely walk along the beach, little knowing how long it is. Can safely say it’s the longest beach I’ve ever walked along. We kept on saying, just around this corner - but it was a gentle curve all the way, so never saw the end! A couple with their dogs said that the end of the beach was used for the filming of Saving Private Ryan. Was filmed at Curracloe beach - 7 miles long!

I walked with my feet in the water most of the time. As you can see, Tintin kept his fleece on as it was still a bit windy.

We’d done over 10,000 steps on the beach by the time we came back to Dave for lunch!

Decided we’d go to the beach properly for the first time in Ireland. Bathers on, towels out - but let me tell you a secret - the pictures look great - blue sky - all stunning - but - it was too cold to stay!

Came back to our field, and sat out in the chairs - reading yet again. We’ve both finished another book today. Seems like it’s a book every couple of days for me at the moment. Didn’t get around to it in the early days of having to do so much research each evening of where we were going next…

So after thinking today would be a bit of a waste of a day - has turned out to be a good day.

The forecast for tomorrow is similar to today, sunny but a top temperature of 14°, think it was only 13° today - but felt hotter out of the wind.

Typically British - talking about the weather - if there was no wind and too hot - suppose that would be an inconvenience too!
