Ballyknockan -31 May 2023

30 May & 31 May 2023 - Ballyknockan

Didn’t move yesterday, had spent ages in the morning researching where to go for our last week here - doesn’t help that it’s a bank holiday weekend - with good weather forecast!

Cute mother duck and ducklings.

We went for a walk alongside the canal in the morning. Spent the afternoon in the sun, reading again. Tintin chatted to a man who was there all day, fishing - then at the end of the day - put them all back in - each to their own…

31st - we serviced Dave at Robertstown, then I was driving today - about 75 minutes. We’ve left County Kildare, and are just into County Wicklow. We’ve decided not to visit Dublin - maybe leave that for a city break in the future…

It’s still mainly sunny, but blimey that wind is chilly!

We’re at a little parking spot with lovely granite seating outside, overlooking the Poulaphouca reservoir, from the map looks like the River Liffey runs through here from Dublin.

After lunch, Tintin thought it was about time for another haircut. He got more than he bargained for having to sit outside without his t-shirt on 🥶

We could have climbed 500m up the hill beside us, but opted for a 14 mile round trip cycle into Blessington. It was very up and down, thank goodness for electric batteries!

The town was bigger than we thought. Lovely looking pubs, but maybe too early in the day?

The tiny lambs we saw everywhere at the start of our journey have  grown so much!

Whilst in April we saw lots of yellow from the gorse, there wasn’t that much colour, all of a sudden there seems to be. Lots of both white and pink hawthorn separating fields and have been cycling past people’s well-kept gardens with purpley blue ceanothus, lots of red acers - very pretty.

Went into a SuperValu for a few bits and pieces. Their yogurts are really good, more like having desserts. Best I don’t read the labels!

Dean the drone went up for a quick fly.

I was quite looking forward to proper hot oven cooked food tonight - but not certain we have enough LPG. We were going to Naas today to fill up, Tintin contacted them as they were lpg converters and not a garage - they asked if it was for cooking, he said yes, amongst other things - and we haven’t heard back from them, so will try another place tomorrow.

The people in the Hymer next to us had a quick chat, her brother lives in Guernsey, and they live in Helston quite near to our son and family - it’s a small world!
