Bain-de-Bretagne - 7 November 2022

It was all a bit weird last evening, I kept on hearing strange noises, I presume animals or birds outside. Tintin was oblivious with his AirPods in!

I slept well, but Tintin has finished up his contraband plink, plink fizz now - he went to bed with a headache, and woke up with it too…

As with everywhere at the moment, we had lots more rain in the night.

I was driving today, probably about an hour in total - but spread out!

First we fueled up - again! €60 @ €1.775 at Total. Nearby was a Carrefour Contact. As we’re still in France instead of home, had to buy a few extras. Everything was planned to have enough until today - loo roll, kitchen roll, washing up liquid, water, coke, rum, yogurt, butter - all the essentials! My face cream even ran out today!

After that, back on the E3 to Grand-Fougeray where we serviced Dave for free. About the slowest water fill up ever - good job there weren’t others waiting!

Had lunch, then risked a quick walk into the town. It’s Monday - French towns seem to close on Mondays! Even the church was closed! However, there were some people eating in both a restaurant and a pizza place - Sod’s law we’d already had lunch!

What a small door! And what a lovely dog keeping guard in front of the door - didn’t even bark.

It started to rain, so went back to Dave. Drove again up the E3, now at Bain-de-Bretagne. The carpark is by another lake. It just looks cold and wintery as it’s windy here.

Went for a brief walk. Why do they have lampshades around the lake?!

The first of November is All Saints' Day. It is a catholic holy day and in France it's a public holiday and a time when families visit cemeteries to remember and honour their deceased relatives.

It’s traditional for families to put a pot of chrysanthemums on the graves of their family for La Fete de la Toussaint. A week later, and it’s good to still see all the colours on the graves.

We walked down to the old wash house. We honestly thought they’d painted the bottom green - no! There’s water beneath whatever mossy stuff is growing!

Walked into the town instead of around the lake, as the paths are pretty muddy.

The church was open, so had to have a look inside. Would people still use these confessional boxes? If so, shouldn’t they have a curtain for privacy? We sat on the bench in the sun and people watched for a while. Not a lot of people or cars really!

Even the fluffy cat looked like it was glaring at us.

I’m struggling a bit today as my reading glasses are broken. Well, the arm isn’t secure and we can’t tighten the screw enough, so I’m back to my previous prescription - which aren’t strong enough anymore!

Made up another batch of granola this afternoon for want of something better to do…

The full Beaver moon is looking good!
